Summer Camp Begins

Shay survived his inaugural day at Camp Twin Lakes yesterday! He came home dirty, hungry and tired. Perfect.

For dinner he plowed through two bowls of spaghetti and meatballs, 2 glasses of whole milk, a cup of chocolate pudding for dessert followed by a serving of macaroni and cheese chaser. Seriously, I thought he was going to explode, but he just kept asking for more.

He also came home down (1) lunch box and (1) shoe. Yes, just one shoe. Left with 4 shoes (pair of sneakers and a pair of sandals), returned with 3. Dang. This is why they tell you to label anything and everything that can possibly be momentarily or permenantly detached from your child's body.

I had to use a chisel to remove the ring of dirt left in the bathtub after he got out.

We made it through only 5 pages of our Choose Your Own Adventure book (we chose to go to the meeting with the Nepal Delegate versus check on our climbing buddy Carlos who was at base camp at Mt. Everest, but since the big storm we've lost radio communication -- doesn't look good for Carlos....), before Shay announced he could no longer keep his eyes open.

And true enough, the MINUTE his head hit the pillow he was OUT!

I love summer.
